Prepping students for jobs of the future
Recently, the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and Demola Global (Finland) joined forces on October 27th, 2023, to host the Innovative Ideas and Networking Platform at the High-Tech Transfer Plaza Select (HTTPS). Through Demola Global the platform propels young minds towards a future of enhanced industry-academic collaboration within local innovation ecosystems.
This initiative marked yet another significant leap in bridging the gap between students, forward-thinking companies, and innovative global knowledge. The platform was designed to serve as a catalytic bridge, connecting academia and industry to foster innovation, knowledge sharing, and collaboration, creating a synergy of creative ideas and groundbreaking project engagements.
Mr Ville Kairamo, the CEO of Demola Global, enthusiastically addressed the audience, highlighting the global reach and impact of Demola's collaborative projects. He emphasised that Demola has successfully facilitated up to now around 6500 projects executed, participants from over 1500 universities and 102 countries and close to 25 000 participants (alumni) around the world. At the event, Mr. Kairamo praised the NUST Namibian teams for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to their projects, leading to their project's completion which will be finalised in late November with final event presentations.
“Being part of a team with fellow international students was empowering. I witnessed the power of unity and the strength of our combined knowledge, which taught me the value of communicating effectively across different cultures. I will undoubtedly carry these skills into my future professional endeavours,” said Mandizvidza Nyasha, a Demola Alumna and Bachelor of Communication NUST student.
The Univesity recognises the immense value of fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within its academic community. Through the HTTPS initiative, NUST aims to empower students, providing them with real-world, hands-on experiences that will not only enhance their education but also prepare them for the ever-evolving demands of the professional world.
This demonstrates the commitment to nurturing innovation, knowledge sharing, and industry-academic collaboration. Together steering a course towards a future that promises exciting opportunities for the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs.
The next sessions will take place towards the end of November.
